Massage at spas has unfortunately (although often correctly) been understood to mean "relaxation" massage – which often is translated as "luxury." At DLS we hope to change that by offering a broad range of massage options from our extremely dedicated therapists. While our massages are relaxing, we are also focused on addressing ongoing, deep-seated bodywork issues. Pain can take many forms in our bodies: tight muscles, cramping, pinched nerves, balance and posture, repetitive-stress injuries, etc. Sometimes it can take commitment and several appointments to get a sense of harmony in our bodies again, but it's well worth it when you see progress and experience pain relief.

Thai Massage is traditionally practiced on a mat on the floor instead of a massage table. The client and practitioner both dress in moveable, comfortable clothing like workout or yoga clothes. Traditional Thai Massage is a systematic flow of compression and passive stretches from the feet all the way to the head. It relieves stress, improves circulation and flexibility as well as relieving pain particularly in the knees, low back, shoulders and neck. Thai massage promotes better digestion, not only through abdominal massage but also through stress reduction. Thai massage follows the Sen lines, or energetic pathways of the body, to restore a proper flow of energy.

We believe that therapeutic massage does not need to push your pain tolerance to its limit in order to be effective. Here at Dirty Little Secret Spa, Deep Tissue Massage is accomplished by slowly melting through the fascia and superficial muscles in order to reach the underlying structures. The result is an effective change in the way your body moves and flows without an increase in tension on or off the massage table.
A Trigger Point is a muscle fiber that has failed to release from contraction. Symptoms of a Trigger Point include pain, referred pain (feeling it in another part of the body), numbness and, in advanced stages, weakness of the overall muscle. As these symptoms can be the results of a variety of different sources, it is necessary to check with a doctor before receiving Trigger Point massage to rule out other potential causes. Trigger points are typically a repetitive stress injury; it is common for the pain to start without any obvious injury.
Use of the Eminence Line's organic herb's spices and minerals in conjunction with myofascial massage can lead to a dramatic improvement in the appearance of cellulite. Fascia is the connective tissue that holds the skin to the muscles. Myofascial massage can encourage circulation in the spots where the fascia gets stuck to the muscle. This stuck fascia frequently results in the appearance of cellulite.
At Dirty Little Secret Spa, we also employ Eminence Sugar scrubs for sloughing dead skin cells from the body. This is a wonderfully invigorating way to end a massage with the added benefit of soft, glowing skin.
When a woman's body undergoes the dramatic transformation required to grow a life within her body, that growth puts a large amount of strain on the body even during the healthiest of pregnancies. The body sends out hormones which command rest and in our productivity based society this necessary rest is often seen as a luxury that cannot be attained. The restorative effects of massage last much longer then the hour of actual treatment time.
Pregnant women change their size every day. A pregnant woman will very quickly lose track of her size and the amount of space her changing body takes up. This tends to make pregnant women clumsy and prone to injury. Massage at any time provides an extraordinary sense of where the body is in space.
In every phase of pregnancy the proper massage treatment can be tremendously beneficial.
